Half season report - to 5 July
2002
The division 1D table at the halfway point in the season shows the 1st XI just in the top half.
| Division 1D | P | W | L | Tie | N/R | Total | Avge |
| Risley | 9 | 8 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 149 | 18.6 |
| Thurgarton | 9 | 7 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 145 | 16.1 |
| Kirkby Portland | 9 | 6 | 3 | 0 | 0 | 128 | 14.2 |
| Wymeswold | 9 | 4 | 4 | 0 | 1 | 102 | 12.75 |
| Wilsons | 9 | 4 | 3 | 0 | 2 | 88 | 12.6 |
| Nuthall | 9 | 4 | 4 | 1 | 0 | 104 | 11.6 |
| Underwood | 9 | 2 | 4 | 1 | 2 | 66 | 9.4 |
| Farndon | 9 | 2 | 4 | 1 | 2 | 56 | 8.0 |
| Ruddington | 9 | 1 | 6 | 1 | 1 | 49 | 6.1 |
| Willoughby | 9 | 0 | 8 | 0 | 1 | 33 | 4.1 |
In an unbalanced fixture list we had 7 home games and 2 away games. The home games against Risley and Underwood were not played due to rain - the Underwood game was abandoned after 15 overs. Of the other 5 home games we have won 4 and lost 1. We beat Ruddington by 40 runs, Wymeswold by 42 runs, Nuthall by 13 runs and last weekend beat Willoughby by 46 runs. The home defeat was against Thurgarton by 64 runs. We lost both the away games at Kirkby Portland by 55 runs and Farndon by 5 wickets. We will need to pick up wins away from home in the second half of the season to retain our place in division 1D. A couple of good wins could still put us in a promotion place.
Until recent weekends, the bowlers have had the best of the conditions. Performances to note include James Fletcher's 4-21 against Nuthall (including a hat-trick), Tim Taylor's 4-28 against Wymeswold and Stefan's 4-33 in a lost cause against Thurgarton. Imran has the most wickets - 15.

Teacher's summary: Satisfactory, but could do better - must settle down to some hard work.

Having played most of the first half of the season away, the 2nd XI have only 2 wins to their name - won by 9 wickets at Notts Amateurs III (with Stef and Tim Taylor) and beat Whatton & Aslockton by 18 runs at home. In the only other home game we lost a low-scoring game against Balderton by 10 runs. The game at Attenborough was rained off. All the other away games were lost: Kimberley (6 wickets), Ruddington (6 wickets), Beeston Siemens (2 wickets), Keyworth (5 wickets) and Thrumpton (68 runs).
Iftikhar Ahmed (and others in his family) have proved to be useful finds. Ifti has scored 161 runs (avge. 53.7, best 58 v Thrumpton and 51* at Siemens) and taken 5 wickets. His brother Mehtab has scored 50 in 2 innings. John Savill (best 48 v Ruddington) and Dave Nattrass have been the best of the other batsmen. Peter Shaw is the leading wicket taker with 18, including 5-29 v Whatton and 4-33 v Siemens.

Teacher's summary: Not good enough - must do better. See me after school!
Played 4, won 2 lost 2. Beat Alrewas back in mid-April on a hot, sunny day (remember them?) thanks to 48 from Dave Nattrass and a good 8th wicket partnership between Tim Taylor and Alan Odell (got to get my name in here somewhere!). The home win against Basford Mill was most memorable for the spell of 5 wickets without conceding a run by Justin. Imran hit a sparkling 68 (the highest of the season so far) in a losing cause at Kegworth. Nobody enjoyed the miserable, wet conditions at Snibston (our usual mid-summer fixture!)
Taking into account all weekend games played so far, Dave Nattrass has scored the most runs 211 (in 10 matches), followed by Tim Taylor 135 (9) and Imran Khan 135 (9). On the bowling front, Tim Taylor leads the way with 20 wickets in 12 matches, followed by Imran 18 (9).
