11 September
We understand that Keyworth
II have had their points adjusted and according to the latest
division L table on the South Notts web site, Caythorpe IV are
shown as champions with Wilsons II in 2nd place - congratulations
to Vasim and his men.
30 August
The 2nd XI finished
their season with a cracking win at home to then leaders Caythorpe
IV.
Batting first at Regatta
Way they were led by Amir Shazard with 87 out of a total of
169-8.
Caythorpe were then
bowled out for just 110 with Amir following up his batting with
3-26 and former 1st teamers Steve Maxey and Tim Caldwell
each taking 3 wickets.
Unfortunately the 1
batting point not obtained and the 3 points Caythorpe got for
taking 8 wickets was just enough for Caythorpe to claim the
2nd promotion spot after Keyworth II picked up 20 points at
home to Belton.
23 August
The 2nd XI kept their
promotion hopes alive with a big win away at Thurgarton II.
Batting first they scored 232-5 in 45 overs with Steve Maxey
scoring 70, Jeff Moore 49 and Jamie Bownes 51 not out.
Steve then followed
up his excellent batting taking 4-49 as Thurgarton were bowled
out for 134.
Caythorpe look certain
champions after crushing demoted Stanton whilst Keyworth remain
2nd after knocking up a club record score of 323-5 at Lambley
then bowling out thie hosts for just 78.
16 August
The 2nds also won comfortably
at 2nd placed Keyworth II by 83 runs. Tim Caldwell
starred scoring 60 and taking 5-40.
Amir Shazard
scored 63 not out as the 2nds posted 228-6. Steve Maxey
also took 3-42 as Keyworth were bowled out for 145.
With 2 games left away
at Thurgarton and at home to Belton, promotion is still on the
cards.
9 August
All games in the SNCL
were washed out.
2 August
The 2nds crashed away
at Belton. Jamie Bownes took 3-39 in Belton's total of 146-7.
But the batting collapsed and we were bowled out for just 85.
However we remain 3rd in division L with 4 games to play (including
a game at Keyworth).
Caythorpe IV remain
top after beating Thurgarton II and Keyworth II stay in the
promotion hunt after winning at Thrumpton by 9 wickets.
26 July
The 2nds got back to
winning ways by comfortably beating bottom of the table Lambley
at Regatta Way. Batting first Kish Patel hit 59 and Jamie Bowns
45 not out as the 2nds reached 203-5 off their 45 overs. Lambley
were bowled out for 153 with Tom Wilson taking 6-36.
The win leaves the 2nds
in 3rd place after Caythorpe took over top spot in beating previous
leaders Keyworth by 6 wickets. Underwood leap frog Thrumpton
after winning their clash by 25 runs in a low scoring game.
19 July
The 2nd XI once again
struggled to score runs at home, this time to Long Whatton II
as they were bowled out for 126 with Dave Nattrass top scoring
with 32.
Hopeful of bowling out
the opposition for under 100 as they had done in their previous
3 games, the 2nds bowled OK with Zane Naveed taking 3-26 but
could not prevent Long Whatton getting home with 3 wickets in
hand.
The defeat drops the 2nds to 3rd spot. Leaders Keyworth won
at Thurgarton whilst promotion rivals Caythorpe took over 2nd
spot having crushed Underwood by 115 runs.
12 July
Vasim finally won the
toss at the 1st attempt and in overcast conditions bowling was
the only option. The first wicket duly fell in the third over
off Vasim due to a great catch from Vasim. Key wickets kept
falling and the level of effort in the field was excellent.
This meant that for the third week running we had bowled the
opposition for under 100, with Thrumpton all out for 83. Vasim
ending with 4, Iffy 3, Steve 3 and Mike Plant 1.
Wilsons being Wilsons the run chase was made hard work. A succession
of careless dismissals meant we were 26-6. However with Jamie
and Iffy at the crease the result was never in doubt. They saw
us home in the 31st over for another excellent win to keep the
pressure on Keyworth at the top.
5 July
The return of the old
boys Dave Rose and Richard Odell saw the 2nds home with ease
at Stanton-by-Dale. Stanton were put in by Vasim and struggled
from the start. After 14 overs they were 17-5 with Rosey taking
4 wickets. A recovery was led by 44 from Chris Pack but after
his dismissal to a brilliant caught and bowled by Kish Patel
the innings subsided and Stanton were all out for just 98 -
Tim Taylor taking 2 wickets in 7 balls to wrap up the innings.
Wilsons opened with
Kish and Richard Odell. Stanton had to wait to the 14th over
before they dismissed Kish for 33 with the score on 70. Two
overs later the game was over as Gawain Bunnett hit 18 off 8
balls (including a 6 off the last ball) leaving Richard Odell
at the other end 49 not out. Richard hit 3 sixes.
Keyworth take over at
the top again after winning at Long Whatton whilst leaders Caythorpe
lost again (this time at Belton) to drop to 6th.
28 June
A crushing 20 point
win for Wilsons over top of the table Caythorpe. The home side
were bowled out eventually for just 95 in 44 overs with Vasim
taking 3-27. Wilsons made light work of the reply taking just
18 overs to reach their target for the loss of just 1 wicket.
Abdul Hashid led the scorers with an unbeaten 63. Wilsons remain
3rd.
Elsewhere, Keyworth
take over at the top after their victory at lowly Belton. Thrumpton
won at home to Stanton whilst Underwood move up after beating
Long Whatton. Lambley lost the bottom of the table clash against
Thurgarton.
21 June
No game against Thurgarton
II as Regatta Way pitch was unfit.
14 June
Jeff Moore hit yet another
half-century scoring 57 in our total of 193-6 at home to leaders
Keyworth II.
Iftikhar Ahmed hit 47
not out and Kish Patel 30.
In reply Keyworth were
bowled out for 153 with Ifti taking 4-12 and Nadeem Ghani 4-32
and thus we picked up another 20 point haul.
Caythorpe beat Thrumpton
and go back to the top of the table with Keyworth dropping to
2nd and Wilsons moving up to 3rd.
7 June
Another defeat this
time at the hands of Underwood saw the 2nds drop further down
the table to 5th with a won 3, lost 3 record. Jeff Moore scored
52 in our 167-9 off 40 overs but Craig Smithurst hit an unbeaten
63 to see the hosts home by 5 wickets and 2+ overs to spare.
31 May
The 2nd XI crashed at
home to Belton by 9 wickets after being bowled out for just
112. They picked up no points from the game and drop to 3rd.
24 May
The 2nds picked up a
9 wicket win at Lambley. The hosts were bowled out for 107 with
Nadeem Ghani taking 4-24 and skipper Vasim Choudhary taking
3-16.
An unbeaten 55 from
opener Jeff Moore saw Wilsons home with overs to spare.
Having played 4 and
won 3 the 2nds were up to 2nd in the table chasing unbeaten
Caythorpe.
17 May
Jamie Bownes hit 54
as we scored 233 at Long Whatton. Despite 87 from Jack Foster,
the home team could only muster 191 and we won by a comfortable
42 runs.
10 May
Mehtab Ahmed hit an unbeaten 111 and
Jeff Moore 49 as the 2nds posted an impressive 222-5 in their
45 overs at home to Stanton-by-Dale.
The maximum 20 points was gained as
Stanton were bowled out for 142.
3 May
A poor start to the
season as 3 wickets from Jamie Bowns and an unbeaten 58 from
Tom Moore was not enough at Thrumpton.
We could only score
125-6 in 45 overs and fell 17 runs short of their target.
