Message from Richard Taylor
(former Hon Sec):
We are pleased to announce that
the new sight screens have been ordered (and paid for). As
disclosed at the Committee Meeting, the cost has been met
by Ideal Cleaning Services.
They will be delivered in about two
weeks time. The screens are wooden and will need a little
TLC.
Size is 4.27m x 3.66m. Final assembly
will take place on site after delivery. It might be sensible
for somebody to be on site when they assemble them, so that
we can see if there is a means to partially disassemble during
the winter.
I hope that everyone at the Club will
respond to the Chairman's new 100 Club as soon as possible.
The Club faces a serious shortfall in income during the close
season, whilst it still has to pay the rent. The rent is heavily
subsidised at present and will very soon increase (maybe in
October 2008). The 100 Club is an excellent idea, and the
last similar project helped to raise a lot of money for Wilsons.
Please do your bit by recruiting subscribers. It is only a
very modest £1.15 per week. I cannot emphasise enough
the importance of this project. See
the MS-Word document for more details.
Also, it must be a priority
now that everyone should have paid their Annual Subscription.
Earlier:
- We have just received a bag of Junior
Kit from the Lords Taverners - this replaces the bag lost
in the Great Fire of Wilford.
- At the ground work has begun on
a further slabbed terrace in front of the verandah on our
side.
- Excavation has begun for the installation
of a new two lane all weather practice net which will be ready
for the spring and is to be shared with our neighbours Gedling/Sherwood.
The cost is likely to be around £10,000.
- We have recently required new kitchen
equipment to allow better and more comprehensive catering.
- We have also acquired, at an advantageous
price, some more new furniture for the clubroom.
- Landscaping of the site will be undertaken
by Notts Couny Council sometime soon. David Nattrass is making
enquiries about the acquisition of further trees additional
to those included in the plans. There is also to be an overspill
car park, a new fence on Regatta Way and new gates. A signboard
is being made for inside the gate.
- Future Projects include the provision
of new sight screens, a loose cover for the square (a large
plastic sheet), and when funding allows a scorebox.
